The Night Journey
One amazing night, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ travelled from Makkah to Jerusalem, and then up through the seven heavens.
The Year of Sadness
The Prophet ﷺ had a very hard year. Three sad things happened:

Then Allah gave him a beautiful gift to comfort his heart.
Jibril came with Buraq
Angel Jibril came to the Prophet ﷺ with Buraq: a white animal, bigger than a donkey and smaller than a mule.
Each step of Buraq reached as far as the eye can see!
From Makkah to Jerusalem
Buraq carried the Prophet ﷺ from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa, all in part of one night.
This is a real map. The two masjids sit at their real places, about 1,240 km apart in a straight line.
The journey is in Surah Al-Isra
Subḥānalladhī asrā bi‘abdihī laylan minal-masjidil-ḥarāmi ilal-masjidil-aqṣā …
Glory be to Allah, who took His servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings He blessed, to show him some of His signs. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.

The Prophet ﷺ led all the prophets in prayer
At Masjid al-Aqsa, the prophets gathered, and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ stood in front as their imam.
After that, Jibril brought him two cups to choose from. Which one did he pick? Let's find out!
Knock, knock at the gate of heaven
Jibril took the Prophet ﷺ up to the sky. At each heaven's gate, the angels asked:
Who did he meet?
In each heaven, a prophet greeted him: "Welcome, righteous brother!"

Sidratul Muntaha
Above the seventh heaven, the Prophet ﷺ saw a huge, wonderful tree called Sidratul Muntaha.
Its leaves were as big as elephant ears, and its fruits were as big as clay jugs. It was covered in colours too beautiful to describe.
From 50 prayers to 5
Allah gave the Prophet ﷺ a special gift: prayers for every day. At first, it was 50!
Who believed him?
In the morning, the Prophet ﷺ told the people about his journey. Many of them laughed and did not believe him.
Allah showed him Masjid al-Aqsa, and he described it so well that they could not argue.
"If he said it, then it is true!"
Four things to take home
Pray five times a day
Salah is the gift the Prophet ﷺ brought back from the heavens.
Allah is with us when we are sad
After the Year of Sadness, Allah gave His Prophet a wonderful gift.
Believe like Abu Bakr
